Do you use Facebook, Linked-In, Twitter?

Do you like to network and surround yourself with other entrepreneurs and professionals?

Do you want your company to continue to grow and be successful?

If you answered "YES" to any of these questions then you must attend Jeff Howe's - Crowdsourcing event on Thursday, July 23rd. Jeff will show you how to use these tools for the benefit of business growth. Many of you are asking, "What is crowdsourcing?" The White Paper Version: Crowdsourcing is the act of taking a job traditionally performed by a designated agent (usually an employee) and outsourcing it to an undefined, generally large group of people in the form of an open call.

Ok...so how does this work?

Your Name: Jarrod Daniel
Business name: The Daniel Group/ Dan Temps Inc.
Years in business: 15
Annual Rev/Employees: $12 million. 22 employees
Years in EO: 3
Forum name: Oceans 7
How did you find EO? A Columbus OHIO member - David Decapua

Jarrod, why did you join EO and how long have you been a member? I joined in order to network with other business owners around town so that my conversations would have some merit and I would get away from having people look at me with glazed over eyes as I spoke about being a business owner. I joined over 3 years ago.

How did you come up with the original idea for your business? I was brought into this business by my father. I CERTAINLY didn't go to school for this.

What has been the biggest surprise from your business? Going from the employee level working a desk to operations and on up to ownership would be as involved as it has been. Early on I was actually naive enough to think I was READY to own a business 15 years ago. WHAT A JOKE.

What do you like least about your business? That there isn't ENOUGH of it today!! Just kidding. Actually I like all the challenges my business provides me.

How much money did you raise and how much did you invest yourself? $5000 myself and hired a company to fund out expenses. The calculation on what they charged me would be the real figure and that ran about 100k/year until I was able to get a LOC at a bank

What was the toughest thing your business has ever been through? The last year. I'm sure we are in the same boat as everyone from that angle but I took over controlling ownership in the same year so I was "thrown into the fire"

When do you first realize you were going to be an entrepreneur? The DAY I was fired from my previous job. Didn't want that to happen again...

What do you like best about your business? Our company's ability to make a profit while doing the socially responsible action of providing employment services to the community. In addition to that I love the fact that we can help businesses in our markets focus on what THEY do best while we supply them the talent.

What are the biggest challenges in your business today? During this economic cycle the challenge is to help companies find the RIGHT person out of all the choices they have today and hold on to them.

How do you manage to stay ahead of your competition? REPUTATION.... we work diligently every day on doing what we say we are going to do. I have found that to be the key in our service business.

So what has been the single biggest value you have received from your EO Houston membership? MY FORUM. No doubt about it...

Which forum are you in and what is something you learned in your forum that you have applied to your business? Oceans 7.... I have learned so much from those guys... One thing in particular that I learned from them is the multiple ways in which you can run a business and household. The work/life balance topic is always something we talk about and I have probably utilized those conversations to my benefit the most. Kudos to my Forum b/c they are really talented people and I feel privileged to call them friends.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working like crazy? Anything outdoors with my family! Kids sports, hunting, fishing, swimming, riding bikes and even the occasional trampoline games.

What is your most proud accomplishment in your entire life? Settling down with the love of my life and bringing my family together.

What is your biggest personal strength? My ability to see the big picture

What about your biggest weakness? My ability to see the big picture and not necessarily paying attention to detail

What do you feel is your best personal quality? My ability to engage with people and understand what it is they are trying to communicate

Why do you think you have been successful? Persistence and willingness to LEARN

What is something that most people don't know about you? I love to coach kids and work with them in sports.

What is one thing you hope will be written about you in your obituary? "Here lies the most kickass dad and husband the world has ever known"

On a lighter note, what do you do for fun these days? I like to play jokes on my kids and anyone else that will fall for them. I'm really into my family and all the events that go along with it.

What is your biggest pet peeve? RUDENESS... don't see any reason for it actually

Got anything big coming up on the horizon for you personally or with business that you want to share? My wife and I are in the business planning stages of something HUGE that isn't in my everyday business.

What person has had the biggest influence on your life? My father both Good and bad.

What is the most influential book that you have ever read? That's a great question.....there are so many of them from business, spiritual, autobiographies etc. How about: Power vs. Force by David Hawkins... that shed a lot of light on me.

What is your most favorite movie?
Field of Dreams

Where is the best place you have ever traveled to?Nice, France with my wife

If you could spend an entire day with 1 person who would it be?
Waylon Jennings

If you could go back and change anything in your life what would it be?
My focus at a younger age...use what I know now back then

If you could give some wise advice how to get the most out of your EO membership, what would it be? JOIN A FORUM. FORUM. FORUM.

In closing, is there anything else you would like to share with us? My experience with EO has been one of the best experiences of my career. The things I have learned from my forum members is invaluable and will carry me further down the road than I would be able to go without them. Dan Temps looks forward to many more years serving our communities and EO shall always be a leader for us to do so.

Great answers! Thanks again for the nice insight into your life Jarrod. You are a true asset to EO Houston.
